Happy New Year!
No, we haven’t got the month wrong, and we didn’t schedule this newsletter four months early. We know perfectly well that it’s September, that temperatures outside are still above 30°C, and that Christmas is still quite a long way off. And yet, if you think about it, for those of us in business, the real New Year might actually be right now.
There has always been something special about September. When we were children, it meant Back to School: new notebooks, untouched books, freshly bought pens and that strange feeling that something was starting all over again. It wasn’t just about going back to school. It almost felt like the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.
Then we grew up, and the schoolbag was replaced by a briefcase, a computer, a phone and a few more responsibilities. But deep down, that feeling has remained exactly the same.
Back to Work.
August is over. Even those who chose the final weeks of the month for their summer holidays are now coming back. Companies are gradually returning to full capacity, inboxes are filling up, meetings are starting again, production schedules are restarting, and enquiries, quotations, orders and appointments are coming in. Traffic increases. The phone starts ringing more often. In short: we’re really starting again.
In January, we exchange New Year wishes, change our calendars and, for a few days, have to remind ourselves to write the new year when we date something. But professionally, January is often simply a continuation of December. There are already open orders, established schedules and activities that carry on through the festive period before restarting exactly where we left them. September is different.
After August, there is a real break. Even those who never completely stopped working noticed a different pace: customers closed for holidays, suppliers away, transport organised differently, factories running more slowly and automatic out-of-office replies filling our inboxes. Then September arrives and, almost all at once, the whole system switches back on. Perhaps that is why, at this time of year, it feels natural to make plans, set new goals, pick up projects that were put on hold and think about the months ahead.
There are less than four months left until the end of the year, and yet, paradoxically, it feels as though something is only just beginning.
At Cartiere di Trevi, summer doesn’t mean switching everything off and putting a sign on the door. A paper mill has its production schedules, its machinery, maintenance, shipments and, above all, customers with different requirements and different holiday periods. Even throughout August, we continued organising production and deliveries. But we know that this week feels different.
It is the first real week of September.

It is the week when practically everyone is back at their desk, and that dense network of phone calls, emails, enquiries and business relationships starts up again — the network that keeps products, trucks, paper reels, boxes and factories moving every single day. And it is also the perfect moment for us simply to remind you that we are here. Not necessarily because we want to sell you something today.
Perhaps you don’t need a paper reel, a sheet or some board this week. Perhaps your production plans are already set and your warehouse is full. That’s absolutely fine. Being a supplier, at least as we see it, means above all being there when you need us.

Happy new working year to everyone who has already found fifty emails waiting in their inbox today. Happy New Year to those reopening a project they left on their desk before the holidays, to those preparing the budget for the final months of the year, and to those catching up with everything that, back in August, seemed as though it could wait until September. And Happy New Year to anyone who, despite the calendar saying September, is still looking out of the window wondering how summer managed to end quite so quickly.
This is where we start again. With our recycled papers and boards, of course. But above all, with the same thing we want to offer our customers throughout the year: availability. Because September is here.
Back to Work. Back to Business.
And now, at this point, we really can say it:
Happy New Year, everyone.
